A digital transformation is gaining momentum in the fight against wildfires. As part of a strategic shift toward early detection and rapid intervention, traditional monitoring methods are being replaced by high-tech unmanned fire lookout towers.

From Human-Centric Systems to Automation

While continuous 24-hour surveillance is currently maintained across hundreds of towers nationwide, the system has historically relied heavily on personnel and public reports via emergency hotlines. To eliminate potential delays inherent in human-centric monitoring, authorities have initiated a transition toward fully automated systems.

Following a successful pilot program involving five unmanned towers in the southern provinces last year, the project is set to expand. New tenders have been issued for additional towers to be established in critical regions across the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts this year.
